Help a Local Food Pantry

Helping a local food shelf is a fun way to spread kindness in your community! In this video, Ruby and Angie share how they put together 20 “emergency to go bags” for their local food shelf. These bags are given to anyone who visits the food pantry without an appointment but is in immediate need of food.
Inside each bag, we put a box of mac & cheese; a can each of black beans, green beans and tuna; and a bag of rice. Angie dropped the bags off at the food pantry and one of the employees told her that they add fresh produce and other items to the bag to make them more substantial.
It felt so good to know that we had made a small difference for 20 families in our community. And all in all, it cost us just a little over $100 to put these bags together, so it wasn’t super expensive.
If you’re interested in helping your local food shelf, reach out and see what kind of support they need the most. Whether it’s packing up food bags, donating a specific type of food, or giving your support in person, each one will have different needs.
